What is the history of MIRAN?
The story of how MIRAN came to be perhaps best explains what the business stands for.
2020 was a tough year. A pandemic and the uncertain future that came with it made people reevaluate and reinvent their work, their priorities, their opportunities.
MIRAN’s parent company, HARBOR Retail, which designs products and technologies for retail environments, had already been exploring other opportunities and industries that would complement its retail business and leverage HARBOR Retail’s design, engineering, and woodworking expertise.
Company leaders knew that the in-store shopping experience would evolve post-pandemic, and that got them to wondering what other industries would also be changing.
The workplace was certainly one area for change as people came back to the office. The work environment needed to be flexible and able to evolve as work models, schedules, and interactions evolved. HARBOR Retail leaders identified a cross-functional team and asked it to think about workplace products that incorporated the flexibility organizations needed to adopt. MIRAN was born.
With the same curious outlook, strong work ethic, and can-do spirit of its parent company, MIRAN incorporates the expertise and resources of HARBOR Retail’s 70-plus-year history of enhancing the retail experience for organizations around the world, including many Fortune 100 companies. How do I install my FoCol product?
One fact about MIRAN is that we sweat the design and engineering details so that FoCol is simple and intuitive for you. This is true of its installation as well. Please download the FoCol Installation Instruction Sheet for details on assembling or reconfiguring FoCol.
Can FoCol be installed to meet seismic codes?
FoCol offers a floor anchor kit to use in your FoCol installation. Applications using floor anchors comply with the California Building Code.
How do I order a FoCol sample kit of the felt, stain, and desk surface?
We’d love to share samples of PET Felt, Baltic Birch stains, and more. Complete the “CONTACT MIRAN” form and request a sample kit in the body of your message. You should receive your samples 2 to 3 days from receiving your request.
What is the recycled content in FoCol’s wood, felt, and desk surface materials?
Among MIRAN’s corporate values is environmental responsibility. FoCol’s materials reflect that value in a number of ways. The Fins are made of Baltic Birch plywood, a strong, highly durable and renewable wood that is also formaldehyde-free and FSC-certified. PET felt skins have 60-percent recycled plastic bottle content. The crescent-shaped desk surface is made of petroleum-free phenolic resins and 100-percent post-consumer cardboard and office paper. It is certified by the Rainforest Alliance’s Smartwood program and meets FSC standards. FoCol components are BIFMA, GreenGuard, and Red List certified. Wood components are also Carb II certified.
